NHLP Seeks Eviction Initiative Project Director

NHLP is launching a project on eviction prevention and tenants’ rights that will bring together lawyers, researchers and organizers, court staff and housing providers to increase public understanding of the social and health impacts of evictions and to support emerging policy and program innovations. We are seeking someone to direct the project. BACKGROUND Eviction and the cascade of negative outcomes that follow have a major and lasting impact on the health and well-being of children and adults. NHLP seeks an attorney or policy advocate to help coordinate the work of the Homeowner Assistance Fund Coalition. The Coalition focuses on advocacy and technical assistance related to the $10 billion Homeowner Assistance Fund created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the American Rescue Plan and administered by the U.S. Treasury Department. Supervising Attorney Job Posting

NHLP is looking for a Supervising Attorney to help lead our work on housing justice issues. The position is roughly 50% staff supervision, evaluation and grant reporting and 50% policy advocacy and substantive legal work. The Supervising Attorney will initially supervise 3-4 Staff Attorneys and will work closely with the Deputy Director to provide overall support to the legal team. NHLP encourages newly emerging public interest attorneys and graduating law students who are committed to our broad, substantive focus areas to seek our sponsorship for a post-graduate fellowship. Generally, NHLP serves only as the sponsoring organization, and does not provide fellowship funding. Common funding sources include Equal Justice Works, the Skadden Fellowship Foundation, school-sponsored fellowships, and the Soros Justice Fellowships.
