May 29, 2014: Protections for Survivors of Domestic Violence in Rental Housing (for CA advocates)

(Note: This webinar and its accompanying materials were not developed as part of NHLP’s grant award from the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.)

This webinar focuses on the protections for survivors under the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA 2013), California landlord-tenant law, and fair housing laws. The webinar also covers the federal agencies’ implementation of VAWA 2013’s housing provisions with a special focus on the Rural Housing Service’s/Rural Development’s effort to implement VAWA 2013. Panelists discuss how attorneys and legal advocates can use these laws to advocate successfully on behalf of their survivor-clients. This session includes new advocacy materials, including a CA early lease termination toolkit, fact sheets, and informational brochures for survivors.
