National Housing Law Project Year in Review 2025

In 2025, the National Housing Law Project resisted the Trump administration’s unlawful power grab. We fought back against the destruction of federal housing law and programs that keep people safe, fed, and housed. We also defended the values that have guided our organization since its founding in 1968:

We believe that no matter where we come from or how long we’ve lived here, our country has the resources to ensure that all of us have a safe place to call home.

We believe that poor and working people are the backbone of our country’s economy.

We believe in holding corporate landlords, big banks, and private equity CEOs accountable.

We believe in building this movement and training the next generation to continue the fight.

We move these values into action by building, supporting, and defending housing policies that propel our democracy forward by serving all of us, not just predatory landlords and lenders.

Read on to learn more about what we accomplished in 2025 – and stay tuned for what comes next by signing up for our newsletter. In 2026 and beyond, we’ll continue building a housing system that puts people over profit and takes care of working families and the poorest among us.
