Gideon Anders Named New Head of NHLPAs many of you know, Gideon has a world of experience both in the housing field and as a legal services lawyer. Beginning his housing career in the early 1970s with community action agencies in Nebraska, he then moved to Washington, D.C., to work from 1972 through 1977 for the Housing Assistance Council, eventually becoming the Assistant Director for Field Services. He still serves on the HAC Board of Directors. While in Washington, he also managed to get a law degree from Catholic University, graduating first in his class, and then joined the Housing Law Project as the staff attorney specializing in rural housing issues. While at the Project, from 1977 through 1995, he became the most knowledgeable rural housing lawyer in the country, earning enormous respect from those with whom he worked. For the past two years, Gideon has been a Senior Project Manager, responsible for all phases of developing affordable housing at the nonprofit Ecumenical Association for Housing in San Rafael, California. The past two years have been challenging for the Project, especially with the drastic adjustments we had to make because of the loss of our Legal Services funding. Now that our financial situation has stabilized, we are in a position to expand our institution and increase our effectiveness. Gideon, with the depth of his experience and knowledge in the housing field and the respect he has from so many colleagues, is ideally suited to lead us through this new phase of the Project's history. Board and staff look forward with great eagerness to Gideon's return to the Project. Please join us in welcoming him and working with him in his new capacity. Back to this issue's Table of Contents.
