New Documentary on Homelessness Available on Video
"The Homeless Home Movie" is a full-length documentary produced by Pat
Hennessey in collaboration with homeless people. The award-winning movie,
originally shown on PBS, is a thought-provoking video on homelessness.
It interweaves the personal stories of five very different homeless people,
complemented by the views of two advocates whose radically different ideas
create a powerful and provocative debate throughout the film. It creates
a diverse portrait of homelessness that will provoke thought and discussion
about the social, psychological and political dimensions of poverty, homelessness
and welfare.
"The Homeless Home Movie" is widely considered to be the best and most
broadly applicable case study available on the scope and diversity of homelessness
in America.
